Late Deals

Many people decide to work hard all year, save up and then booking a late minute getaway to the sun.  This way you get the chance to escape the winter blues, relax and unwind and prepare for the year ahead more comfortably.  Many holidaymakers in the UK choose the Canary Islands as their preferred destination, but which one of the canaries is best?  With many to choose from it can be a tough decision; one of the smaller islands such as La Gomera or La Palma may be best if you're wanting a completely relaxing break, although they don't offer much in the way of entertainment.  Otherwise, you could always try one of the main four islands; they are Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, and they will offer more in the way of activities and entertainment.

Tenerife is particularly sunny in the south of the island and is an excellent base if you enjoy a round of golf.  The pretty resort of Los Cristianos is great for couples, whilst the nearby resort of Playa de las Americas is brilliant if you want lively nightlife and a home from home feel.  You have a choice of many excellent hotels to stay in, while you could enjoy a day out at the nearby water park.  Gran Canaria is an island that mixes upmarket and cosmopolitan vibes with the main resort of Puerto Rico offering a gorgeous marina, as well as some amazing seafood restaurants.  Although it is a hilly island which can sometimes make accessibility hard, the reward is the chance to enjoy many spectacular cliff top views.

With its brilliant beaches, friendly welcome and mixture of different types of resorts, it's easy to see why the Brits flock here.  Mount Timanfaya or ‘fire mountain' is a must see excursion for any traveller.  The whole family will love the peace and quiet of Fuerteventura, where you will also come across many immaculate beaches and superb water sports too.  Windsurfing championships regularly take place here too, whilst many of the hotels offer an ‘all-inclusive' stay, giving you the opportunity to do as much or as little as you want whilst on holiday.  The choice is yours, but whatever island you're leaning towards, whether you're looking at late deals to Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote or even Fuerteventura, I think you'll definitely be making a good choice whatever destination you end up choosing to travel to.

Sounds wonderful, Ben. I am not much of a traveler, but it sounds like a wonderful place to visit.

Thanks for your kind comments Lorrie.  The Canaries are a firm favourite and well worth a visit.  Another place to try if you ever get the chance is Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.  I went in March this year and loved every minute of it!  The reef snorkelling is to die for - it was like being shrunk and put into a tropical fish tank... amazing!!!  The weather was perfect also.
